Talk:Arashanti

The Arashanti was created by User:Saronai if you would like to roleplay as an Arashanti, please contact her (me) first. There are multiple reasons I ask this: the Arashanti are a small tribe so our characters would *have* to know each other, I created them so I'd like to know everything about them (including additional members of their tribe), the culture, though made up is important to me and I'd like to talk with anyone interested in roleplaying it first (but mostly my characters will have to know you and you will have to know them).

The reasons behind creating the Arashanti...

1. I wanted to play a non-white person in look AND culture because I love variety.

2. I love studying culture

3. I had to create a different history for the people in order for them to have a different, non-white culture.

4. Everything continues to grow in the concept from the original idea in order to do the culture justice.

The untrue assumption behind the creation of the Arashanti...

1. The creator is a Mary Sue who can't use existing lore

Counterpoint: Not true, the creator is a lover of foreign culture and languages and wishes to bring more flavour to her game play by playing a non-white human. The three characters I play from that village are important spiritual figures only because no matter who I played, the fact that she or he had magic or adventured would make them an important figure in Arashanti society. Note: They are not any more important in the majority human society than anyone else and because they are women, (in their own society) they are only important as figures, unable to make decisions or give commands and must actually follow commands given to them by elders and/or men of their village (though one of the sisters have a stubborn streak and would take dishonor rather than follow a command they didn't want to and the youngest sister is considered neutral gender after becoming a Blade so is free to issue commands of the gods). While I realize many out there play non-white humans without all this mess, such people are probably not as interested in the culture and language aspect which is something I have a passion for, in fact, I would love for them to create a history of their peoples and culture as well!
